The First Meeting

I (virtually) met him at Whatsapp on June 2015. He is a friend of a friend, that was introduced to me. It began with a simple “Hi”. To be honest, at that time, I felt nothing special about him. I just tried to be polite and replied to his message. Oh, I think, I wasn’t that polite, though. Cause I could reply his message only 2 or 3 times/day, with a very-long-wait period of time. LoL. But, I thought he just too persistence. He would text me again, even I didn’t reply to his message.
As time goes by, he who is a stranger, became part of my days. And, out of my awareness, I felt more and more comfortable with him. It felt like meeting my old friend.

After two months we had talked through messages and phone calls. We decided to meet up. The reason why we need two months to meet in person because He lives in Surabaya and I live in Jakarta.
So, he came to Jakarta for two days on the weekend. He arrived on Saturday morning and I didn’t pick him up at the airport. We arranged to meet at the hotel he stayed in (before we had lunch with my parents). Yes, the very first date is lunch with my parents!
I still remember the feeling. I felt so happy and excited. I didn’t feel nervous at all. Even I still remain calm, while he was so nervous. He didn’t look me in the eyes and became so chatty. I was teasing him and he became more nervous. Luckily, the day run so well. He felt so welcomed by my parent.
(Okay, we almost arrive on the crazy part) When we had our time alone, he told me “the words”. He said, “Would you become part of my future?” I felt the little bit shocked, also confused. We had known each other for two months, we had met in person only a few hours. I knew I can say no to him or just pending the answer. But, my gut feeling told me to say yes. Above all the uncertainty, differences, and distance between us.

Then, I’m happy I said yes. He is now my soon-to-be hubby. He’s the one I will call my life partner.
